Masefield (Pty) Ltd and it’s subsidiary Masefield South Africa are responsible for the Masefield Group’s Sub-Saharan activities, with offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town (Head Office), South Africa.
The principal shareholders are Masefield AG and local employees. The structure is fully aligned with the latest South African Government codes for Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment and Masefield (Pty) Ltd has developed specific experience in structuring empowerment deals in South and Southern Africa.
Key activities
- Supplying crude oils, condensates, refined products and blend components both on a term and spot basis.
- Supplying Bio-fuels supported by spot and long term off take agreements, and involvement in and funding of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects and the associated Certified Emission Reductions (CERs).
- Structuring, managing and executing hedging transactions for refinery customers, end users and governments, using the derivative markets. This function includes a comprehensive price risk management service.
- Developing tailor-made structured financing and pre-financing transactions, where capital investments or ownership of the underlying commodity is used to reduce the cost of borrowing or provide funding to the client.
- Providing comprehensive, long term, strategic inventory management services, particularly to governments, to optimise and manage strategic reserves of crude oil and finished petroleum products stocks.
- Investing in fixed assets, such as tankage, to provide a more competitive service to our clients.
